A weak battery may not be strong enough to turned the engine over, but still able to operate the fuel and ignition systems until the battery drains further.
So the boost started the engine and the battery took over until it got too weak. Which means your system isn't charging. Check voltage output with a multimeter at the battery posts. Should be over 13.5V when charging.
