Just here to share a recent 240 adventure
noticed the hood latch was a little sticky. Pull on the cable release and it doesn't spring back enough to catch the hood. Another thing on the list of stuff to do. We got 20cm of snow in Montreal yesterday, so wasn't going to fix it right then and there. Gave it a good hefty push (slam) closed and double checked that it caught and wouldn't lift when I pulled up on it and kept going.
15 min. later 40 mph (75km/h in Canada) highway speed in the middle of passing a bus in the slow lane. Pooof hood pops open, secondary latch fails to catch it and it blows back all the way until it hits the top edge of the windshield.
Can't see fugg all and have to look out the drivers window to keep the car driving straight by gauging distance from the concrete barrier, hit the emergency flashers while braking to a stop on the shoulder of the fast lane. Hop out slam the hood down and limp slowly to the next exit. Hood totally mangled at the attach point rear corners. Driver's side hinge torn apart metal sheered, passengers badly bent.
All safe.
In need of a good used set of hinges at a reasonable shipping rate to Montreal...
let the good times roll !
Happy New Years Guys :)
Stay safe.
