I'm sorry to hear of the damage, but glad it wasn't worse. I read somewhere of using ATF as a lubricant instead of heavy oil on the hood hinges. I've never tried this myself, but plan to load up my pump oiler with some Type F ATF and lubricate my hood and door hinges as well.
