FYI, the distributor cap carbon contact was worn to a nub and the rotor wasn't in great shape either, but the Mallory ignition module turned out to be the main issue.

I was able to get him a new module, but neither of my local hot rod shops are stocking 4 cylinder Mallory caps any more, so I had to set him up with a used cap and rotor I had laying around.
