Hi Kit!
Yes, it has Carbon brushes and a motor winding that they power to turn.
Like is said it only rotates a partial turn back and forth.
It's the same in both two and three pin connector models.
Depending on how many times an engine is required to hold idle varies the wear it gets.
I have observed Mileages in durability vary wildly. It can be as little as 85,000 miles if it's all short street driving. On my cars used more on the highway it's well over the century marks.
It's also my belief that the auto return spring, two pin models, probably last longer as they are not "powered" in both directions.
The insides of the housing does not have windings but has those fixed bar magnets.
If you have ever opened up a windshield wiper motor you will see it is built the same way.
I'll say this for others, who may have not dived under our car dashes!
The wiper motor itself continuously runs in one direction, as the wiper arms themselves are attached to eliptical cams and cables.
As far as door pockets, I have gone to gluing pieces of the old ones, that have busted, to the insides of the pocket. Most of the time a can work a piece to fit tight and snug the whole length of the pocket. It bridges the crack or if no crack it makes it thicker and stronger than original.
I rough up the two sides with sandpaper for tooth to increase grip.
I use a cement or whatever I have handy that's getting old in a tube or bottle. It's not like it's going anywhere or is a critical component to begin with.
Some glues work better than others but I don't go and buy something exotic for them.
If I'm at the JY, I pickup broken ones for the useable chunks of plastic.
Lots of times they are busted on the far ends or there is just a half of one laying around in the trunk or interior.
In most cases, because I'm buying other stuff, they let me have them for free!
Either Reusing or recycling, they got rid of it!
They get squat for their weight only from recycling vendors or in some cases pay for pickup!
Recycling can be a costly business, for some and especially, if buried for our future inhabitants!
