Dashboard paint 700 1989

I have a 740GL 1989 with a dashboard that has black on the upper half and a tan color on the lower half. My glove box broke (door fell off and lock broke) so I bought a new(used) one on ebay for $16.00. It's in good condition, but it's a dark dark tan and doesn't match my tan.

I want to repaint all the tan on my dash because it's all fading. THe Black looks fine.

Does anyone know how to paint a dash?? What paint do I use and where do I get it? Do I have to prime?? Anyone know exactly what color of tan my car is??

Thanks for any replies!

They have recoloring kits for both leather and vinyl. I've used their leather product on my 945T's tan interior, and the match was perfect!

You need vinyl spray paint! A great product to get is SEM Black Bumper Coater. You can get it in places that sell auto paint and pinting supplies. Not many paints can stick to vinyl so read carefully if you find alternatives. Try a piece of something that won't show much like the seat lumbar knob (you can unscrew it) and see how well it works.
In my experience it lasts for a few years, longer if garaged, and the paint dries very quickly.

If you want paint to stick to vinyl or polyethylene, you need to heat it first. Blast a heat gun at it, and paint it while it's still very hot.

This is the magic secret used to get the lettering and graphics on all those plastic shampoo bottles, cosmetics bottles, insecticide, etc.

I'd suggest this guy experiment with his broken glovebox door first, and then move on to the good door after seeing what kind of results he can achieve.
