Lubing seat belt re-coil tensioner.... 900

my front pass. side seat belt has been getting slower and slower to the point it has to fed by hand to pull it in.
can the re-coil ends be lubed to have it pull the belt in?i know the S.I.P.S system has a charge to lock the belt in the event of collision.
i've lubed the belt tensioners in my old 240's and my old bimmer for slow and weak retraction so i know how the assy works.
thanks for suggestions,dave

Lubing seat belt re-coil tensioner.... 900

thanks tvpierce,i have pulled the cover off at the top and able to look 3/4 of the way down and pull the belt all the way out.i didn't see the belt flipped but it could be on the reel which i was unable to see.
it's a real PITA pulling and re-installing the cover with out doing any damage to the felt covering on the cover.

Check to make sure the belt hasn't flipped 180-degrees behind the interior panel. That happened to mine, and it made the belt retract poorly. Took it apart, lubed it, but it wasn't any better. Then I realized the belt was flipped. I flipped the belt back the way is was supposed to be, and it worked great.

Good luck.
