Chainsaw blowe replacement without airflow loss 200 1984

I think i may have found a way to prevent airflow loss when using the chainsaw method.

In the chainsaw guide, it says to remove 3 pieces of the inner housing to allow the blower motor mounting ears to pass through. If you are carefull and keep the pieces you can glue them back into place, thus creating a seal again and preventing airflow loss.

I will take pictures of what im talking about but im in trouble at the moment finding a replacement motor. Does anyone know how to restore the motors??

Cheers

I have used Don's chainsaw method several times - when I cut the end caps off the outer housing - I make sure to cut an index "point" indicator for proper orientation.

Just before I complete the final cut - I drill mating holes w/ a 1/8" bit or so - one inside the cut - the other outside the cut.

Then when I re-assemble - there are matching holes - thread a small nylon zap strap through and voila - cover is back in place - now I run a bead of silicon sealant over the kerf line - apply liberally - and it seals it up nicely.

    Thanks Don !!!!!!

    Good luck w/ the rewind.

lol.. theres no chance of mis orientation on my outer caps because i dremmeled them in some form of weird triangle/star which only would go in one way.. bugger cutting a neat circle when no one is going to admire your work !

Does anyone know how to restore the motors?

I've had good luck disassembling the motors, thoroughly cleaning (particularly the bearings/bushings), and re-lubricating.

im going to call up local electrical guys tomorrow and see if i can get it re wound, the person i spoke to today said that DC motors cant be rewound or soemthing but the internet (and brickboard) says differently.

If i have no luck findind someone to refurbish the motor i might get you to give me a quick rundown on the disassembly and cleaning :)

      Cheers
