I have 1990 volvo 740 and I am currently have starting issues. I have recently discovered this website and I did some research, but from what I could find nothing fully matched my situation. I checked the fuel pumps, and the relay switch, bot of which seem to be functioning properly. Once the car is started it runs great and once it has been started it is very easy to start for about 30 minutes after it has been turned off, but after that it is very difficult again. I usually have to press down on the gas pedal to start it. THe issue seemed to start after I degreased the engine. Since then I have replaced the spark plugs, wires and distributor cap; so I know there is no water in there. While turning the ignition it seems that there are two different noises, one sounds as if the engine is getting fuel and the other sounds as if it is not getting fuel. In other words it either sounds like it wants to start or it does not.
If anyone knows anything about this or these symptoms sound familiar please let me know!
Thanks!
