starting problems 700 1990

Everyday, I have a behind the ignition switch problem. Verified I have a good starter, and been around the ringer for all other info on the Brickboard.

After I turn the key, the lights comes on the fuel pump whines, ( which has been replaced @ 165K), the clicking of the relay is there. But there is no cranky (cranking), @ the starter. So, I jump out with my trusty wire jumper tool(prybar), while all my lights on dash are still on(running position), and short my starter's + & -, terminals together. Guess what my car starts everytime, yes everytime.

This may, or may not be your resolution, and after too many times, of bypassing my ignition switches; I may have to replace my starter. But this has verified, directly behind where my key goes in, there lies the actual switch. I need to replace it, just haven't. I removed it, and reinserted it last week, to see if I can rebuild it. That won't be happening anytime soon. So, I will purchase one soon.

If this is not your problem, try your RSR(radio suppression relay).

Swap your RSR, and fan relay, if it cranks right up, your RSR is probably defective. They are located right next to one another, connected to your radiotor overflow reservoir.

Let me Know,

Kevin
