Hello all!
I have been running around as of late in my son's 66' 122
which is waiting for body work and paint. The car has been
running just fine so I decided to drive it to work this morning.
That didn't go very well unfortunately.
The car started spiting and spudering and has this
tinny sort of backfire noise. I am guessing that the
mixture may be too rich???
I did warm the car up for about 10 minutes but this
still happened after even that.
I have also seen people post that they have to retune
the carbs for colder weather. I was in the 50-60's
last week and the windchill this morning was 16 degrees F.
I am definitely not a SU guru so could someone please walk
me through any possible solutions?
I really want to be able to drive the car around
and don't want to hand it over to my son in the
next few weeks without having some understanding
on how to help him should he encounter the same
problems.
I can take it to a local Volvo guy who could tune the SU's
but I think I could do it myself if I had a bit more knowledge.
Thanks in advance for any help!!!
It is greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
karl
