Hello,
I just figured out that an overheating problem that recently cropped up was due to my thermostat breaking down. I installed a new one and now I'm back to cool runnin'. In the whole process however, my old cap-tube gauge gave up the ghost finally and I of course want to keep an eye on my running temperatures while on longer trips.
I was thinking that I would very much like to have an accurate after-market modern gauge that would read an actual accurate temperature. Looks and vintage stock are not an issue for me, so I would just mount it somewhere visible under the dash probably.
I'm just wondering if anybody has soom advice on which brands to look for. Also, would you go for a mechanical model, or electric? What store(s) should I look for such a unit? Money is not so much an issue, I'd like the best... if available.
I know about using a gauge from a 200-series model and fitting it into the dash, but I'm really more interested in one that would read an actual temperature, not just a moving needle with no calibration marks. Eventually I'll find another replacement cap-tube, but in the meantime I'd like to accurately read my running temps.
Opinions out there...? I know you've got em!
Thanks.
