threads not matching? 120-130

Shoot.... I tried changing out sensors for the new "autometer" one that I bought today, but, of the three thread and diamters given in the kit, none seemed to work. One was very-very close but it wouldn't go beyond a very limited first turn and I didn't want to muck-up those head-threads so I didn't try forcing it any further. I thought the interior head threads might be dirty also, so I cleaned them out carefully. It still wouldn't go in so I gave up for tonight.

Does anybody know the techincal specs for the receiving threads for the hole in the head unit? The only specs that I find in the instructions given with this kit are something about 1/8" NPT. I don't know that that refers to however, because the diamter of the hole seems almost 1/2" .

I did find a little sentence in the one page manual for the autometer that metric adaptors are available through suppliers...
