I am quite partial to the VDO range of guages which are electric. I have a 50 - 150 degC oil temperature guage from a VW Golf GTi installed in my 122S as a water temperature guage. I had to make an adaptor to install the sensor and if memory serves me correctly the male part that screws into the head is 1/2" BSP and the female hole that the sensor screws into is 14 x 1.25mm.
