gas dripping from fuel line between filter/pump and engine compartment 200 1983

My 240 was off the road for a month+ while I was switching the registration to NC. I got it back on the road and it drove fine--no problems. I filled up on gas and once I left the station, the smell of gas didn't go away.

Looked under the car, and gas was slowly dripping from directly under the driver's seat. Put the car up on stands today and sure enough, the hard metal fuel line (and the brake lines of course) are all covered with fuel and it's slowly dripping off.

I couldn't pinpoint the leak but it seems like it's probably just a pinprick somewhere in that metal line (I'm assuming it's the larger metal one, about 6-7mm in diameter).

Once the car's been off for awhile (6+ hours) it stops dripping.

Looked at the various online suppliers (IPD, FCP, eEuro, and several generic ones) and couldn't find any place selling a replacement fuel line. Do I need to buy a generic metal line from a local supplier and cut it/bend it to fit my needs? Any tips on what to search for?

Any idea what could have caused this? Just old metal? Any gas damage to look out for while/after replacing the line (e.g., the speedo cable)? Bentley doesn't seem to say anything specific about replacing fuel lines/hoses other than to "keep everything clean."

Thanks!
Tobias
