FUEL LINE REPAIR COMPLETE 200 1983

** REPAIR COMPLETE **

For the record I replaced the entire rusty old steel line with 5/16 flexible copper tubing per your suggestion. I left a few inches of the old steel at each end and used brass compression fittings to attach the two together. All in all I needed about 9-10 feet of copper tubbing ($9) and 2 fittings ($2/each). Mini tubing cutter cost me $8 and was worth far more.

Upon closer investigation the problem was exactly what you predicted - rust under the plastic clip. It looked pretty bad in other spots as well so I'm glad I did the whole thing.

When reconnecting everything the fittings leaked a little at first, but after tightening they seemed pretty solid. I'll keep an eye on things over the coming weeks/months (both fittings can be seen without removing anything or getting under the car).

Thanks again for this practical, easy fix!
