Hello Art Bernstein and guys. I'm baaack. My '83 245 has been turned in to me from my daughter for various things she wants me to fix. Power at take off is low and it runs rough and occasionally stalls when the tank is half empty. She has to keep it topped off. I had to replace a ball joint and tie rod end. New plugs and wires, rotor and cap. It had a bad idle hunt and so I found a decent used one on eBay and switched. I did all that. The idle now is very fast at 2500rpm with no hunting. When I put it into drive and hit the pedal it barely goes anywhere. Much less power than before I did anything. I have not done anything since yesterday when this happened. Weather turned cold again here. ANY IDEAS ON WHERE TO START? I do seem to remember the idle speed screw adjustment on the throttle body was almost all the way in. I had thought that the fuel filter was clogged since it has been a very long time since I replaced it, but the idle was fast, strong, and smooth so I dismissed that. Any step by step would be helpful. I THINK the bad air control valve had been bad a long time now and any prior adjustments may have been affected by that. I have not checked the timing in over a year. Just a thought. Help when you can. I only tinker with these cars when there is a need so I am not a true motor-head but have done a lot with my 240's over the years to keep them running. Thanks.
