Oil pump drive bolt failure

Would anyone recognize this failure?

Friend Mick on TB is trying to help another, and I mentioned we have some metallurgy savvy on BB. I'm just providing the picture posting help. Car was described as a 16V with hardened, updated replacement bolt of some notoriety, so I suppose it is a 7/9 car. Mick asks if the bolt looks hardened.
