1986 Starter 700

Hi, the starter on my 1986 740 GLE SW with b230f engine and standard transmission is acting up.
It just clicks and it takes 2 or 3 tries for the starter to connect. So it seems like a faulty solenoid.
Napa has two types for this car; with or without permanent gear reduction.
How can I tell which one is the right one for my car?
