1990 Volvo 240 with 330K and it has had a oil problem since 150K. The problem is oil coming from the flame trap into the intake throttle body into the intake manifold and getting too much oil into the flexible cold air intake tube (I call it the bellows) that it get's too close to the AMM.I'm really sick & tired of cleaning throttle body, flame trap and hose, and the bellows once a month.I blew one AMM several years ago because the oil got at the fine wires of the AMM.
I have cleaned every hose big & small for the throttle body area without any better results.
I'm thinking of blocking off the flame trap hose inlet on the bellows and then running the flame trap hose to a vented 'catch can' like on a race car. I do not see any harm in not burning up these un-used gases which are basically oil for the 150K or so. Whadda ya think?
