Should I buy a 1971 142E for $1600 CDN 140-160

Looking at a 1971 142E in the next day or two. I have an 84 245 Gl (Canadian assembly) and know nothing about the 142 series. Is there anything in particular that I need to look for in this old beauty. What is the most common problem associated with this model? Anything else would be appreciated.
