Of course...Kermit is absolutely correct.... Many of the things I mentioned were not factory options...rather, they were dealer installed, and available through the "accessories" catalog (including the ltd slip). I do question as to whether the dash tach was factory though, as the one I had with the GT gauge set had no hole in the dash. I think any and all gauge options were dealer installed. Maybe the dash tach would have been put on by default by the dealer if the other clusters weren't ordered. Who's to say...seems to be a bit of a mystery these days. I would guess that some such accessories would have been "thrown in" by the dealer to try to sell and expensive car.
Kermit, do you know roughly what the original purchase price was? As I recall, it was somewhere in the $3500 range...heck of a lot of money back then, and somewhere around a grand more than a basic 140s of the same year.
I never heard about the increased brake swept area. Interesting. I also wasn't aware that they came in red. I've actually only seen 2 of the silver blue ones (Kermit's included), and 4 of the gold ones (both of mine included). Although I have seen pictures of red 142GT cars...which is another step up, and seemingly a whole nother chapter in the mystery.
Someday, someone will get this whole fuel injected 1971 142 thing sorted out. I'll look forward to hearing the story! As for now, if you see one in decent shape, and the price is right...best just buy it, preserve it, and enjoy it!

By the way...Does anyone out there have an original window sticker or better yet...factory build sheet for one of these? That would be interesting to see...
