wrecking yard condenser fans?

Hello,

I was at the local u-pull it checking out condenser fans today. I found one on a mercedes. It looked pretty good. fairly compact and heavey duty. However, on the way out I spotted this Isuzu, and it had this cute little fan, that was nice and compact. it looked like the perfect fit. So I abadoned the mercedes.

But all went astray when i got to the cashier, and found out that the price, without a guarantee was 25.00. 32.00 with a guarantee. I balked.

jc whitney has an 11" cooling fan for 64.00.

I measured across the windings of the wrecking yard fan and I measured 6.4 ohms. Of course, I dont know what that means. What should I do here.

The wrecking yard fan is the perfect size and would be rather easy to mount.
How can I be sure it works? Should I pay that much?

The mercedes fan was a relative big sucker.

All opinions welcome here.
