Going to a shop 700 1988

OK...so i head to the shop to check out why my car makes the humming noises and the clunks when i slow down. I was hoping that i would just have a simple u-joint problem. Turns out i have to have the following replaced:
-bad right wheel bearing ($225)
-bad center drive shaft ($245)

Apparently all my noises where caused not only by these problems, but my rims in the front were bent. How do you get your rims bent???

Oh, well atleast i'm getting it fixed.
