the check is to have your tires balanced. If they can't balance the tires on a rim than that rim is bad, if they can the rim is fine. Nice test since it involves something you generally have to have done anyway.

you should get them fixed if they're warped or you'll ruin your tires (since you cant balance tires on bad rims). On a sidenote, if you don't feel like picking up some temp steel rims (from a junker) and the front end starts shaking just move the bad rims to the rear... that's what I did and it eliminates the problem (from a feel perspective).
