My 2nd 'fun' brick, an 83 240 Turbo wagon that ran like a charm was rear ended by a stupid minivan.
Just got it 4 months back, perfect condition (150K miles). No rust, repainted, looked sharp. People would be shocked when I'd say 83. Engine was great (w/ 4sp OD), all dealer records back from 1983, all major repairs done in the few years, new turbo, harness ect, exhaust. Pristine condition. It ran better than my 89 240. Even the damn AC blew cold air on r12.
I was waiting at red light, plenty of cars ahead of me, when BAM. The guy from behind was pretty fast, did not brake at all, no screaching tires. It was a jolt. I have some nasty whip lash, pain in the neck. The impact was on the left (drvs side) rear side. Pushed the panel in, broke my rear side glass (wagon), and even pushed the passenger and drivers door stuck a little (will post pics up soon). Cops came and gave him a ticket for failure to stop.
I must wait for the police report and his insurance company. Meanwhile I had the car towed home. Just a tragic day. I looked for months for a 240 turbo in this condition.
his van just looked dented and was leaking fluids.
