Hello all--
First let me provide some background: I recently used my '89 745GL (135,00mi, B230F/AW70L)) to transport me and all my belongings from Vermont to Colorado. About 2/3rds of the way through the trip I noticed my Check Engine light (not the Service light) was staying on after I started the car and not turning off until I gave it some gas. Shortly afterwards the car died twice due to what was diagnosed by the tow truck drivers as vapor lock, due to the 10% Ethanol gas in Nebraska. We got some BG 44K additive which seemed to solve the problem. However, about a week later the symptoms returned and the car died again, due to a dead in-tank fuel pump (it's got the Bosch LH 2.2 fuel system). The in-tank pump was replaced, and while the mechanic initially had some questions regarding the main pump, he decided it was okay.
Now, about a month later, the Check Engine light is staying on again after I start it up and not going away until I give it some gas. Is the main pump dying? Do I have another root problem causing all this? I need this car to take me on a 100 mile a day round-trip commute, and need it to be as close to 100% reliable as possible. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance--
