Pertronix/Coil mod 120-130

A 120(B18) owning friend,I am too, has been told that to fit a Pertronix he will have to break into the armoured cable at the base of the coil in order to attach one of the wires (+ terminal?)Can anyone confirm this or maybe point me to a site with 120 specific fitting instructions? We are both UK, so RHD. This is useful as the coil is close to the distributor.
