Spark Plug - Replace 200 1986

I have a 1986 240 with 220,000 miles. It has been about two to three years since the spark plugs were replaced. I tried to take two out and had the same problem with both. Using a spark plug socket and ratchet wrench, I could feel the plugs "give" a little, but it did not feel right. It felt more like something was bending rather then "breaking loose". Knowing the engine has an aluminum head, I gave up. Normally the car runs great, I wanted to pull the plugs to evaluate their condition. Could someone please give me some advice, I do not feel like stripping the head.

I would be thankful for any advice.
