Hello all,
I have had my 1969 164 in a repair shop in Crawfordsville, Indiana for a year and a half. I found him listed in the Brickboard. He has been working on Volvos of all years for the past 35 years. My car has him stumped. I'm posting his message for him because he's not on the internet. Here goes:
"I have totally rebuilt this B30A but am unable to get more than 12" vacuum even with distributor cranked past 10 degrees mark until it pings. I have had the engine out of the car and apart 3 times. I have had the engine to two machine shops.
I have driven the vehicle approx. 500 miles. It runs GREAT! It however, does not have enough vacuum to pull the into the engine.
I have had two sets of rebuilt carbs (SU- HIF6 and a stock pair of ZS 175CD) and it still has the same problem.
I took it to two specialists in Indianapolis and they were stumped too.
Help!"
Any replies to me I'll forward to him. If anyone wants to call him directly, his name is Bill Congleton and his ph. # is: (765)362-4409.
I really appreciate any help with this. I'm not opposed to paying for the right answer.
Thanks,
Jack Petrilla
