Hello All:
1967 Volvo 122S wagon. Something strange happened to me yesterday, twice. Perhaps someone can illuminate.
While coasting down a rather steep hill in 2nd gear utilizing both real brakes and engine braking, the 'Amp' light on the dash suddenly went on, full bright. Simultaneously, the blinker indicator on the dash went out. I stopped the car at the bottom of the hill and drove the remaining 1/2 mile to my home where an outside inspection revealed that the exterior blinkers were not working either. When I turned on the headlights they came on, followed shortly by the 'Amp' light going out and the blinkers returning to their normal function.
About 1/2 hour later on another steep downhill, same braking conditions, the problem recurred, only to return a minute or two later to normal operating conditions.
Atmospheric conditions: hot, maybe high 80's, low 90's Farenheit. The water indicator was rising at stop lights but returning to normal under driving conditions. In other words, normal behavior.
I suspect this might be an indication that something is ready to fail. Any insights?
Cheers,
Jeff Pucillo
