I need to remove the steering wheel from a '67 amazon, and it is stuck. Very stuck.
So far, I've tried:
1) Two 5/16 bolts with washers braced against the slightly loosened big nut. I can torque the bolts darned tight and nothing pops.
2) Big puller, but slightly off center. More hardware needed before I can pull straight with it -- I'll pursue this if necessary.
3) Substantial slide hammer.
I have managed to apply enough force that I'm scared of breaking the wheel. Obviously I can't apply much propane heat to this area of the car. What happens if I freeze it instead?
Smarter ideas solicited. Thanks.
