I made a nice puller by taking a rectangular chunk of metal (I beleive it was aluminum) that was aobut 4 inches long, 2 inches wide and about an inch thick. Drilled and tapped a large hole in the middle for a big hardened bolt to push against the column, and two smaller wholes on the ends for the 5/16 bolts (hardened socket cap) to go through. Able to make it in under an hour with what I had on hand and it got a very stuck steering wheel off even though one of the threaded bosses on the stearing wheel was already missing a chunk from someone elses pulling. I have used it many times since. Oh ya, I also made a little aluminum cap to go over the end of the stearing column to protect it from the hardened bolt and to preserve the little horn contact cup.
