Bolts worked for me. 120-130 1967

I know this risked "mushrooming" the shaft, but I removed the big nut, inserted a long, narrowed socket into the hole and used this really heavy piece of 1/8" steel with two slot-holes (I found it in the parts the original owner gave me). Then I used some long bolts and tightened them down on the plate and the plate-socket pessure slipped it off easily. I tried it before with the big nut still on and had no luck at all. I think the socket that fit cleanly was a 3/8" drive 10mm socket - something with a bit of a neck-down.

I had no luck at all with "whackage" or with a gear puller. I only succeeded in getting pissed off and putting a little bend in my wheel (!?!)
