I bit the bullet and removed the old charging indicator and added a lighted voltimeter ($16.00) so that I could put my electrical suspicions at rest. The volitmeter replaces the old charging indicator on the same circuit (25 amp fuse no. 1 to ground) I'm getting a good solid 12 volts from the car while driving with most of the accesories on. So we can all cheer that my alternator and regulator upgrade worked properly.
Funny thing, however is that when I use the turn signals (also on the 25 amp circuit) the volimeter shows a clear drop in voltage when the signal engages. It kinda "jumps" under 12 volts in tune with the signal itself. Should this concern me? Seems kind of strange thst with all my new-found electrical muscle, al la 55 amps, I'm seeing a drop in available "juice."
Also, since I can now monitor the voltage (on the top circuit at least), what are the "normal" fluctuations that I can expect to see (e.g. 10-14)? At what point should a voltage drop be taken as a serious problem?
Any thoughts?
P.S. Yes, the connectors on the fusebox will move a bit, but they are not poor-connection loose. ...yet.
