Are the rims true? Did you try rolling down a long hill with the motor off?
Did you put the rear of the car on blocks by way of the axil and run the car in first gear while you stand by the wheels? IMHO best done in a wide open parking lot with a licenced driver sitting in the drivers seat in a just-in-case mode.
The hose idea is not bad!
