244 brake light woes

Sorry for the delay - its a busy time in the semester - lots of grading for me.

As for your questions:

Actually, THe dealer said the white socket is for the 740, and I have a black socket on the passenger side. I'm going up there today and tell them about the white socket. Maybe I'll get to try it and see if it works at no charge.

Yes - the brake light fillament is on at all times when the lights are on.

I'm not sure about the Scan tech part - hopefully after 1986! I'll put that on my troubleshooting list.
