Dual side galvanized steel was not used until later in the 1980s, so depending on climate and salt earlier 740s can suffer some rusting. Notwithstanding that, they are far more robust than competing models of the same vintage. I see rusting Hondas and Toyotas in Iowa from the mid-90s, in my view inexcusable when no equal-age American or European car so suffers.
