Ding, ding, ding... 200 1990

The chime is almost impossible to locate by sound. The sound seems to come from all directions when you're looking into the driver's footwell to locate the thing.

That said, it should be a blue rectangular thing, about 1" x 2" x 3" high. I've found them clipped near the brake and gas pedals, with a bundle of wires going into one side. You can also identify it by the grille on one side for the speaker.

Good luck in modifying it for flasher unit use, though. There's a built-in timer so that when it gets power, it will chime for a max of 8 seconds or so. The timer can also be interrupted by attaching your seatbelt, which will shut up the chime. It also controls the seatbelt reminder light, which remains on for the full 8 seconds after power is applied, regardless of the seatbelt.

Personally, I yanked the unit out of my car and it's now installed in my garage as a warning for the air compressor. When the pressure switch kicks in, that starts a 20-second timing relay which powers the seatbelt chime and a rotating warning beacon. At the end of 20 seconds, a power relay turns on the actual compressor motor. This keeps me from jumping out of my skin if I've forgotten that the compressor is turned on, and I'm busy working on something quiet and detailed.
