Ding, ding, ding... 200 1990

Enough poeple have mentioned it that I thought I'd clarify my plans. When I worked for a digital printing company, I once took out the delivery van, a Ford Aerostar. At one point, while I was waiting to get out into traffic, it started to ding, and I couldn't figure out why. A little experimentation told me that it was an alarm activated by having the trun signal on for too long. I had finally found something to like about Fords.

So, anyway I began hatching this plan when I first got my 240, and found that its turn signal was silent. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any way to time the operation of the circuit, so I gave up. Well "Sven's Maintainer" re-hatched the idea with his advice on how to activate the electric cooling fan I just installed. He suggested wiring the low-speed circuit of the fan to the brake lithgt circuit the use of a relay from the dome light in order to keep the fan on an extra 8 seconds after the brakes are released. That way, if the car is stopped, the fan is running, and it keeps running for an extra 8 seconds after you start moving again.

The time dealy in this relay operates via a capacitor in the switched circuit. So, I figure that, if I can find the right capacitor to put in line, I should be able to activate the bell a minute after having turned the turn signals on. signals would operate a relay, so the capacitor shouldn't cause problems in that circuit, because it wouldn't be in that circuit.

Maybe what I will end up doing is, rather than hooking all of this up to the dinger that is already in the car, I will find one at a boneyard and dedicate it to the propsition.

Currently, I have two or three projects ahead of this one, but if I get to it, and it works, I will post the results.
