FLUSH IT!

If you don't want to do this yourself...as I did... I spent the $90 at the local Valvoline oil changing facility for a complete flush... After pumping 32 quarts of fresh ATF through my 88 760's tranny having acumulated 279,900 miles It was a huge difference in both shifting and drivability...
