turn the heater in the passenger cabin on high/ full blast
That's the correct way to do it, should be standard procedure.

Good luck Jeff! Sorry to hear about these continual problems! My 142's been sleeping for almost four months now... :-\ But I found another car to use for a daily while it sleeps. Should be back on the (weekend)road in a couple months...
