If it even exhibits the same (dead, no crank) symptoms again, I'd connect across the fat (Bat), to the small connection (solenoid power) at the starter...that's a great place to divide and conquer the problem...if solenoid gets activated and starter cranks you know its something at the IGN sw or associated wiring, if not, problem is at starter...
