Seeing the back of the alternator - use either a mirror & flashlight, or sense of touch.

The thin red wire has, in my experience, connected to a spade lug on the alternator that is mounted on insulating washers. If there's another spade lug it will be frame mounted (uninsulated) and is for the ground wire.
