I am sure this is totally unrelated - but mine was doing simular - ceptin' it would not start after a rain. I thought it was the rain - and water coming down the firewall and getting into the electronics - but it was not.

It was a bad distributor - mechanically. Finally got a good used one and my problem wenet away.
