Poor man's tune up worked! 140-160 1975

Because the thermostat is new, as ar the sensors, it works fine - it just runs a bit hotter than normal. The shade temperature is 96F.
I pulled the plugs and #3 was very black, the rest were OK. So I cleaned them all off, and moved the timing to 13-15 degrees BTDC instead of 10. It stumbled out of the driveway! So I put it into 1st gear and got to 3500 (speed limit 30). I found a steep hill, got to 5mph and floored it to 4000rpm, and she hasn't complained since!
Whose signature has "drive it like you hate it"? She runs like a kitten on all 6 again. And the temperature range is steady. We are happy again!
