Neutral Switch Problem on 86 240 200 1986

Thanks for the advice Switchman - I removed the cover. The white plastic pin is visible - I can see about 1/8 to a 1/4 inch of it between the shifter and the switch. I can't see an end of it so it does not appear to have slipped out of the switch. However I am thinking that maybe the gap is too wide and that it doesn't make contact with the terminals that I can see in the switch. I am guessing that the pin has to make contact with the terminals on the switch to complete a circuit and enable the starter circuit to work. The lines are aligned fine with the scribe marks.

Any idea on how to have the pin do its job without having to push it to the right?
