Kickdown cable replacement. How difficult to replace? 200 1986

My '86 sedan has an automatic transmission. How difficult is it to replace the kickdown cable? I see in my Bentley manual that the trans pan needs to be dropped, but it's not clear where that end of the cable attaches and do I also have to remove the trans filter? How is it fed back up to where it attaches in the engine bay?

Thanks to any of you who may have an easy and more exacting way of doing this.
