I've used a B20B head with 44mm inlets on a B18B, with the B20B head gasket. It works fine & I have fond memories of that particular engine. The stock B20 combustion chamber is bigger than a standard B20 bore, so the overlap isn't really a problem, although I like to notch the intake side of the bore to match the gasket.
