crank sensor replacement...... hints!!!!! 200

I'm not sure what all the fuss about small hands is. Once I get my large paw past the heater return pipe, I have plenty of wiggle room to feel the sensor, its hold-down bolt, and manipulate a combination box wrench.

Problem is you can't do that and see it at the same time. You have to look first, peer between the valve cover and firewall, and commit what you see to memory, then you can do the rest blindfolded - literally. I can't imagine anyone reaching up from the bottom to do this unless on a lift. I've never used a socket of any kind, just a box wrench.

The danger is after the screw is out, and the sensor is stuck. You don't want to bend or break the bracket it is in. Like a stuck distributor, start it by working it in a twisting motion; add some juicy stuff, and continue twisting and tugging, if it is sticky. I still don't understand all the extensions, wobble sockets and universals I see being recommended, but whatever works for you. Don't drop the bolt in the hole.
